Gold coins

A few well-known gold coins. Note, in view of comments received – I’m tired of explaining: Please do not get hurt / upset / tense by the way I handle the coins. These are common BULLION coins, they are NOT rare / collectors / numismatic coins. That means their only value is in their weight, not their face condition. It means that they are handled and traded heavily by bullion dealers and (within reason) their face condition does not affect premium or spot price. Bullion coins and bars are traded for gold content and weight, not surface condition. All bullion is handled unprotected – because it’s sold in large quantities, individual coins are not slabbed or protected. Every coin I buy has been handled/stacked/tipped/wrapped in rolls by previous bullion dealers, and most are heavily marked by handling. When buying bullion, this is really not a problem. If you’re concerned about numismatic value/face condition of coins, don’t buy bullion! And there are plenty of videos on youtube with coins in plastic slabs, you’ll be happier there. Hope that clears things.

This video is about collecting gold coins. I will tell you how I started my collection, share my views on collecting gold coins, show examples of gold bullion, certified and uncertified (raw) coins, both old and contemporary. Also I will put to test several coins “certified” by a non-reputable coin grading company by sending them for grading to NGC, uncovering the truth about some self-proclaimed grading companies. See what happens. Watch my other videos on gold bullion coins, American gold, silver and platinum coins. Music: Beatles Meadley by the Stars on 45

touching them, putting them in SD card boxes (hard plastic + soft metal)

if you spent at least $1200 on something like that, wouldnt you feel slightly inclined to look after them a bit more? at least get something better than an SD card box + tupperware

  3. 18wheeler76 says:

    sweet stuff man……….

  4. 18wheeler76 says:

@Robaaaayy take care of it?what is he doing wrong, just touching them big deal.

  5. Robaaaayy says:

the way you handle those coins makes me cringe! i know theyre bullion coins and are generally roughly handled, but still . . . .when somethings that expensive you should take care of it! :L

  6. ganimed1976 says:

Wow, I counted 37 ounces of gold coins, that´s 1.15 Kilograms of gold.

Nice collection. Gold is an awesome and very fascinating material. What was Gerd Frobe saying about gold in the 007 movie Goldfinger…”All my life I’ve admired its color, its brilliance, its divine heaviness”. It exerts a special appeal to everybody. To get to its property people had stolen plundered, pillaged and murdered in the past. This was so in ancient times and even till today. But who can blame it? ;)

  7. Decoy8 says:

I’m biting my lip as I watch you try to remove the coins from the cases! It’s an accident waiting to happen!

Interesting about NNC…what appears to be, is not always what it is. I collect Silver coins and would like a to get a few Gold coins in my future, allthough the standard Gold coins like a buffalo or Australian lunar, Canadian maples etc is what I like. I seen your earlier videos, you have nice coins….congrats, good on you.

  49. ToyMaster83 says:

    Perth mint

  50. ToyMaster83 says:

Lesson. DONT BUY NUMISMATIC COINS TO MAKE MONEY. Just buy bullion.
You pay more for the numismatics initially and it is a cost you have to recoup. You don’t have to pay this cost with bullion and as such you couldnt care less if you dont get more than spot price! Easy choice to make.
ps.. Don’t just buy gold. Buy a SHITLOAD of silver too. Silver will be the one that buys you a mansion in ten years. Gold will pay off too, but nowhere near the fold increase of silver. Go silver GO.
